President of Kennedy Care and founder of TheCaringSpace, David completed his undergraduate education at the age of 20 and began work immediately in the senior home-care field while pursuing Master’s degrees in Social Work and Health Services Administration (The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor). As a home care agency owner since 2003, he witnessed first hand the financial strain placed on families in need of senior care services, their difficulty in locating caregivers appropriate to their particular needs and their effort, meanwhile, to juggle multiple family and work obligations. In response, David founded TheCaringSpace in 2008, an interactive tool and collection of resources geared to enabling families to easily locate and hire their ideal caregiver while significantly reducing associated costs and stress.

Sekai earned her Masters degree in social work at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) with a focus on gerontology. She volunteers as a Helpline counselor at the Michigan Great Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association where she assists Alzheimer’s patients and their families with care giving decisions and challenges. Sekai also holds a Masters degree in writing from Antioch University and a Bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She spent 10 years working as a journalist covering stories ranging from health care to crime for newspapers throughout the United States, the Caribbean and in Southern Africa. When she isn’t writing for ThecaringSpace.com, Sekai works as a research assistant in the Life Course Development Program at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband Stephen and their son Chaney Rain.
